What Comes Next? πΊπΈ
We’ve reached a turning point.
Yet again, another obstacle has presented itself in the path towards a peaceful and prosperous future. The never-ending campaign of division, has yet again reached new heights. After all the chaos, after all the violence, only one question remains- what comes next, now?
The reality that we now face, here in the West, is grim. The path forward in which we as a people get to continue our lives, is shrinking quicker by the day. As more time erodes, so does the option of making peace with those who we call our neighbours. Those who we walk beside in the streets. Those who we share an office-space with during our breaks. Those who we participate with during our extracurricular activities and leisures. The dream of continuing, as is, is fading— fast.
For close to 100 years, we have lived in relative peace within our society. Minus the odd outburst or spontaneous combustions- here in the West, we have been blessed. Life has been clean and fair (relatively speaking), compared to the lives of those around the rest of the world. Since World War II, it would be difficult to find a country or continent which has experienced the abundance of peace we have achieved. And yet, after all those years, we finally find ourselves coming back to the harsh reality of the world— fast.
Our great Western civilization has been built on the idea of a democracy, where all those who participate are offered the freedom of expression. Where those who choose to vote, are free to cast their ballot in whichever way they see fit. A world where no matter the background, you have a very solid chance of finding some form of success. A society which has been the envy of the entire global population, since it reached its peak at the end of the war. And yet here we stand, on the verge of leaving it behind and never looking back.
Our society has been infected by an ideology which has no place in our homes. A hatred like no-other, which has been openly allowed to grow and manifest itself into a free society. Much like a cancer, which has been invited in by the guards at the gates of the very kingdom they have sworn to protect. And like all cancers, once they have grown large enough- they wreak havoc upon their host.
Who do we blame for this disease? Who do we point the fingers too, once the cancer has spread its roots?
The reality is, it doesn’t matter. If anybody is to truly blame, perhaps it is the body for accepting the parasite in the first place. However, at the end of the day, whoever you choose to blame, the fact remains the same. The cancer which has killed hundreds of millions before, has found a new host to call home.
The path forward towards recovery is one of extreme struggle. A battle, where both the disease and the host stand to lose everything they know. Something so devastating and gruesome, that very few live to survive and tell the tale. And yet, every body must make the same choice. Do they wish to fight, and continue on with their lives? Or will they yield, and die valiantly on the battle field?
The doctor makes a living out of predicting the outcome of his patiences, only to fall short and be wrong. All the science, all the technology, all the knowledge and skill in the world, cannot predict what will happen once the patient begins their battle. Once begun, the results fall into the unknown.
All that is guaranteed is the struggle.
Godspeed, America.
