Leaves of the Forest 🍂
A New Beginning.
Can you feel it? That subtle shift in the air? The feeling of release, after months of built-up pressure, bubbling deep within? Slowly, at first. And then suddenly, all at once. Change is here.
Seasons come and seasons go. The world stops turning for no one. Nothing can stop the never-ending flow of time. While oceans may fade, and forest crumble- the death and rebirth are all apart of the same cycle of life.
✶
In order to move on to the new, one must first get rid of the old in which it holds. The shedding of the very nature, which has remained itself to be trapped, is essential in moving forward. Even the trees release their greatest creations- year after year- in order to produce something new. The need to let go of what has been, in order to create what can be again.
Things are different now, more than ever. The cycle of life which has come and gone, throughout history, marches forward. The highs and lows, the mountains and valleys, all leading towards the same constant state of change. Like waves, flowing from the ocean, crashing into the cliff sides, only to retreat once again.
Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in all the motions. To be locked in a trance, observing the forward motion. So obsessed with moving forward, that one forgets to let go instead. To understand that what has been has had its time- and now it’s time must be cast aside again.
✶
Nature continues. Life moves forward. Nothing stays the same again. The patterns, the repletion. The constant forward and backward flow. These are inevitable, just like the sun rising in the East and setting in the West. How foolish one has to be, to think that they can change it.
Life has a humbling way to remind us. It comes at us at full force, laughing while we struggle to resist it. Like standing on a beach, attempting to stop the hurricane. An unstoppable force, driving forward. No man can change what God has already written in code.
Perhaps that’s a good thing. Perhaps, we are in need of a gentle reminder. A friendly tap on the shoulder, reminding us to let go. Reminding us to jump out, into the open. To move our feet, and reach out into the unknown. To embrace the uncertainty which lies ahead, trusting that the cycle will carry on.
✶
Everybody wants to believe this is their final moment. They want to believe that the world revolves around them. However, only once we are capable of stepping back and viewing the larger picture, are we truly able to understand how vain we truly have been.
Life is the most gorgeous cycle. The coming and going of the waves. The sound of the ocean, while the giant crhinsom star sets beyond the horizon. The gulls flying overhead, knowing that once again they’ve lived long enough to see the coming and going of another day.
Much like leaves of the forest, shedding over and over again.
