Progress 🏃🏼‍♂️

 Progress.

Progress is never a straight line. No matter how much we wish it to be. Progress is not a walk in the park, leading towards so insane goal we have drawn out before us. It is not the desire to embark upon an incline path, leading towards a finish line.

Progress is a much more complex subject. It is a spiralling staircase, slowly but surely leading us towards whatever it is we want. We constantly walk these stairs, whether we know it or not. The never-ending ladder of chaos, which we must continue to climb in order to grow. Progress is something which cannot be simply drawn out on a paper, and executed without a second thought.

One of the more challenging aspects of progress is the highs and lows which come with it. The mountains we climb, only to fall back into the valleys. The great success which comes with accomplishing something meaningful- followed by the horrid lows after we realize there is still so much more to go. Progress is a constant journey, leading us into the deepest hells and highest heavens that we have ever known.

Accepting the journey is a part of moving forward. Understanding that the goals we chase will not be a straight path, helps prepare us for whatever is necessary in order to succeed. To prepare us for the blood, sweat and tears which we will sacrifice, in order to obtain said goal. The cost of opportunity, the challenge of success, all within our grasp. Being prepared mentally for an all-out battle against the very fabric in which we find ourselves trapped within.

Understanding the journey helps prepare ones mind. Have you ever tried to run a race, run a marathon, without knowing where the finish line is? The likelihood of you finishing said race to the best of your capabilities is extremely unlikely. The need to be able to visualize every single step is a severely-underrated trait which most people do not develop. The mental image of every single kilometre, helping one better prepare to take the necessary steps.

Life is a mental battle. Every action we take, is a war. Show me someone who has achieved great success in their field, and I will show you a warrior. I will show you an individual who is prepared to do whatever is necessary, at all times, in order to succeed. Someone who is willing to roll their sleeves up, and get their hands dirty. Someone who isn’t afraid of hard work. Someone who is prepared to die in battle, knowing that failure is not an option they are willing to accept. Show me someone successful, and I will show you a man who is hard to kill.

What makes an individual capable of achieving said progress is not their inability to lose. These individuals who become successful, are not simply born on the right path. No. There is nothing special between yourself and them. The only difference in their mindset. The difference between it’s not possible, and I will succeed. A simply shift, worth its weight in gold.

Successful people do not go through life without stumbling. They do not walk through the game without taking a hit. They learn how to get hit, and to keep on going. They learn how to fail, and then find a way to never fail again. They take their losses as nothing more than stepping stones, preparing them for the next victory which lies ahead.

Speed is your friend. A successful individual, who continues to rack up victories, rarely finds himself sitting still for long. The momentum gathered, from winning on all sides, propels them forward. Soon, a man no longer believes he can be defeated. He no longer believes that anything is outside of his grasp. Soon, the warrior emerges, and the battle shifts forever in their favour.

Momentum is a deadly force. Anyone who has ever done anything will tell you the same thing. Sports show us that all the time. Once a player begins to pick up speed, once they finally start skating- no force in the world can slow them down.

Why should life be any different? Why should the real world not follow the same laws? Success is contagious, and winning is the only prize. Those who are capable of claiming victory, quickly realize that their journey has just begin.

Do not feel discouraged by your journey. Do not feel down about the progress. For it takes both mountains and valleys, to make a scene worthwhile. Embrace the chaos. Climb the ladder. Move forward like there is no other option but to succeed.

And when you do reach the top of the mountain- Keep going.

The rest of the world is yours to claim.
