Wise Men Say 🦬
Wise Men Say- Only Fools Rush In.
But I can’t help, falling in love with you.
Had that stuck in my head this morning. No clue why. Can’t say I’m anywhere close to rushing in to anything at this point. However, I still find it to be one of the better songs I know.
Music and art have taken such a turn for the worse. Everything today is made with the goal of simply being bought and mass-consumed, to market and sell a product which holds zero emotional importance. It has been completely hijacked to nothing more than a game of numbers- be it on the billboard or in the bank account. The entire arts industry is at one of the worse crossroads of all-time. Which is a direst reflection of the society we currently live in.
We live in a period where arts and culture are dying. Slowly but surely, everything is beginning to fall apart. Music and cinema have completely lost their soul. These once-great forms of art have become nothing more than a business, where the only goal is to make as much money as possible. Seriously, name me one hit song that has came out within the last 4 years, which you believe will be around in the next decade? I don’t think I can. Everything is being made with the goal to mass-produce, nothing more, nothing less.
There are always indicators when a society is on the brink of collapse. There are small things, which in time, add up to monumental red flags. Art is one of them. It reaches a period where everything becomes stale and stationary. A period where everything is not even absorbed or analyzed- it simply becomes mass-produced. We in the west currently find ourselves in that cycle, with very little acknowledgement of it to begin with.
Take cinema, for example. Name a great movie you’ve gone to theatres and seen within the last 4 years. Not streamed. Not consumed on Netflix. A movie, which you drove to the theatre, ordered a giant barrel of popcorn, and allowed yourself to become fully immersed within. I don’t think that I could name too many, to be honest. The last one I saw was Dune- which was a remake. Another franchise, another story, being remade to make money off of a concept which has already been around for decades. The same with most movies. Remakes of remakes, constantly mass-producing and pumping out products with nothing more than the goal to create monetary value as quickly as possible.
Things here in the West are at a stand-still. There is an electricity in the air, which is dying to crack. Think just like when you find yourself outside, and you know it’s going to rain and thunder. You can see the clouds above head, you can feel the humidity, you can sense the energy in the air. Western society is at the same point today. The energy in the air is ever-present, waiting to go off and crack.
One of the main tactics being used by those who wish to see our downfall is the desensitization of our intuition. Intuition is something which has been wired into our systems since the beginning of human history. A gift, from God Himself, allowing us to have internal instinct to help us survive. In today’s world, our instincts are more off than ever. We are constantly being fed poisonous foods, which are killing our systems. We are being force-fed mass media, which is numbing our brains. We are being pushed and pulled in a society, where we no longer have the capacity to think for ourselves.
How many people go to the cinema, or rent at home, a new movie when it comes from Marvel? How many of us consume their products, regardless of what they’re about. We have become so blind to the truth, so out of touch with reality- we simply accept whatever it is being forced down our throat. Indiana Jones is another prime example. Riding off the success of an older franchise, helping create new content in today’s world simply by using something that once was great. Star Wars, another prime example. Feeding us stories which aren’t even a part of the great franchises we once knew, simply because they hold the names and likeliness of the products we once knew and loves.
Things are a mess. A great, big, flaming mess. We are being destroyed from within, by the very individuals who have sworn to protect us. Sworn to stand up and fight, to keep our society alive. We are being murdered daily, without so much as a single shot being fired. Make no mistake, my friends- we are at war.
When society here in the West crumbles- which it is only a matter of time- we will look back and wonder, where did it go all wrong? Where did we lose the narrative? When did the bricks begin to fall? I believe that to be a complex answer, one which I can only speculate and give my own opinion upon.
However, one thing is absolutely for certain-
When art begins to die, the rest of society soon follows.
Glory Be,
Amen.
