Histōria ⏳
History Is Being Written.
Watching the history of the World is a daunting task to say the least. We humans have accomplished so much, it a relatively short period of time. We have truly written one of, if not the, greatest saga’s ever told. Yet despite all we’ve written- there’s still so much to unfold.
Losing the Library of Alexandria was potentially the worst tragedy to ever befall history. We as a civilization lost so much knowledge of the past within those flames, never to be recovered again. It becomes almost mind-bending when you realize that 95% of history has been lost forever. Think of all the great kings and conquests which we openly talk about and study. Now think about all the stories we’ll never even know.
Time is truly undefeated. It is a vial filled with sand, slowly erasing all which it consumes. Someday, perhaps not too far, we as a race may not even know about Ancient Greece or Sumer. We may not even know about their triumphs and victories, their agony and defeats. We may not even hold the knowledge or information surrounding their rich, prosperous periods within the chapters of history itself. One day, we may even lose the most basic information which we always thought would last forever.
Forever is a lie. Plain and simple. Nothing can last forever. Time will never bow down to something lesser than itself. We humans are nothing more than dust in the wind, building cities and civilizations on top of quick sand. A humbling, yet important reminder when observing our lives. Something which we seem to lose sight of, every now and then.
Kingdoms come and go, all the time. Cities fall. Countries collapse. Entire industries and livelihoods crumble. Yet the world keeps on turning, none the less. Nothing slows down the hands of time. Nothing can stop the inevitable. It’s important to keep that in mind, whenever we are building for the future we current find ourselves in. Unfortunately, nothing lasts. Yet, it is crucial that nothing lasts, so that new things can be born. We must be willing to allow things to die, in order to create something better. At least, to attempt to.
Looking back in time can be a burden. Sometimes, we look back and realize all the mistakes which were made. All the things which were done, which should have been avoided. Hindsight can be a terrible things, haunting us until our final breath. Perhaps it is best we continue to look forward, and fight for the future in which we are building, instead of fixating on the past. Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened. Or something like that.
History is one of the most important subjects to learn in all of the world. In my opinion, every single individual should be taught the truth about our lives, here on Earth. Every single person should know the complex madness and bloodshed which it took for us to create the world we currently find ourselves within. Only by understanding what we have done, can we better prepare for what must happen. Those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it. And make no mistake- we are doomed.
It’s been the end of the world, multiple times throughout history. In fact, whenever a great kingdom or state fell, there normally was a dark age which followed it. A period of harsh circumstances and grim realities, where survival became the key component. Yet despite the darkness, many of the greatest men were born. The pain and suffering for which they survived through, helped create a path of enlightenment. The ability to move forward and create a new world, from the ashes of which the old had been burnt. We are on the verge of living that same story, once more.
Make no mistake- the dark ages are upon us. Things are bad, but they’re going to get much worse. Soon, all of the world will be cast into disorder and chaos. Yet still, we must embrace it. We must understand that it is through the darkness which we shall be molded into men of destiny. We shall become everything we are meant to be. No man can rise to his calling, without first suffering tremendous pain. For it is the pain that sharpens him, much like the stone does to a blade. The trials and tribulations are that which create purpose, destiny. It is through these challenges, that we find our higher calling.
One day, we will all draw upon our last breath. Much like our birth, our death will be just another adventure. Here today, gone tomorrow. Nothing more than a grain of sand, trapped within the hourglass. Time is undefeated, yet again. However, what we choose to do with that time is the true question. What we choose to build, to create, to leave behind- that is the ultimate test.
How will history remember us? How will the future look back, and admire what we have accomplished? Much like we do with Rome or Greece, others will do with ourselves. Others will study our progress, study our lifestyles. They will study us, just to find that over 95% of our story is missing. Pages of history, torn right out of the book. The odds are forever stacked against us. Yet despite the fact, we must press forward all the same. We must continue to build, regardless. We must continue to create.
When all is said and done, what will you be remembered for?
Glory Be,
Amen.
