Surrender 🏳️
Surrender.
Let go, and allow things to flow. Allow the Universe to simply guide you, as you release all ego-driven thoughts and follow the current.
Fighting upstream can be an exhausting practice. in fact, most people make the mistake of constantly swimming against the current. They believe that in order to become the very best, they must be willing to fight agains the flow and fight their way to the top. Battle, agains God and the Universe itself in order to reach some imaginary mountain top, high above the crowd. I often think about what Mac Miller said on one of his songs, dealing with climbing mountains- once he got to the top, he realized, it was just a pile of rocks.
A pile of rocks. Nothing more, nothing less. Material, here in the physical world. A complete and utter waste of time. I suppose there is some novelty in climbing a mountain and reaching the summit. Many people who have scaled Mount Everest would probably argue that the mountain top is one of their greatest accomplishments. However, I can’t help but feel like, once they’ve had time to sit back and reflect upon it, most climbers realize it was the journey, not the summit, which was the accomplishment.
One day, we will all look back and realize that it was the journey which forged our destination. That the journey was responsible for making us into who we are meant to be. I look forward to that day, despite everyone and everything telling me to live in the moment. I look forward to the opportunity to finally kick my feet up and rest, knowing that everything worked out in the end. I suppose once again, keeping the faith is my greatest weapon against the evil which seeks to destroy me.
I remember, years ago, speaking to somebody with a psychology degree. I told them that I was afraid to begin the great work, because I would have to leave behind everybody I had ever known in order to truly start it. They did not understand me. Honestly, I’m not too surprised. Most people don’t. Then again, I believe that most people don’t understand life. They spend their time, running around and chasing pleasure, completely oblivious to their purpose and path. They surrender their greatest purpose, in the endless pursuit of flesh & drink. They shed and forget who they are meant to be, and become who the world tells them to be. The average individual is more than willing to sell their soul, in exchange for 15 minutes of fun.
It’s a sad reality, when one takes the time to truly think about it. Billion, upon billions of souls, roaming around this barren wasteland. Moving from one pleasure to the next, constantly seeking excitement. Constantly seeking a cheap trick or cheap thrill, just to get them thru the journey. The average individual is completely incapable of understanding what it is they are meant to be doing, here on Earth.
Time is our most valuable asset. Time, and Health. Without those two, nothing else truly matters. Add Faith in there as well. The three pillars of life. Everything else is simply meant to distract and defeat you. To pry you away from your purpose, in order to create a world where everybody is the same. Nobody is discouraged and attacked more than the individual who wishes to remain exactly that- an individual. The world tries to fit you into a little cookie cutter, chopping away at your edges until you become just like everybody else. Eat, Sleep and Drink, just like everybody else. Big, fat and dumb. Operating on such a lower frequency, that you have no chance what-so-ever at finding your true purpose within your soul. Trapped, inside a 3rd dimension, with nowhere to run.
If I ran the world, I would understand why the system is built the way it is. I wouldn’t want anybody challenging my position. I would not want uprisings and wars fought over the luxuries which I currently surround myself by. I would not want individuals to remain individuals, finding their own way and purpose in life. The very thought of it would spell the eventual downfall of entire societies which have taken centuries to build. No. If I ruled the world, I would make sure people stay as low and as dumb as possible.
Everybody has a price they’d accept for the thing they wish to never sell. Pirates of the Caribbean taught me that one. I have to say, it’s one of my favourite quotes. Most people don’t understand it- it simply flies right over their head. But the reality is, well, the reality. Most people would sell the thing they wish never to sell, for the right price. Including their soul. They will betray themselves and who they are, simply for gold or money. They will surrender their greatest gift, their unique identity, simply to be able to afford the riches and pleasures which life has to offer. Most people are weak and afraid of being cold and alone.
The problem with accepting a handout is that you spend the rest of your life, confined, that there’s another one waiting for you just around the corner. Convinced that, if you’ve won the lottery once, you can win it again. Convinced that someone, somewhere, is going to swoop down and save you. Give a man hope, and he will spend the rest of his life waiting. The human mind works in mysterious ways.
Keep the faith. Trust the process. Surrender to the flow. All these terms, key to understanding that there is something greater than one’s ego at work, here on Earth. Understanding that all things are connected, and we are nothing more than a tiny cog in the machine. A tiny cog, with the ability to perform miracles. One must simply be willing to surrender to the Universe, in order to receive.
Glory Be,
Amen.
