Smooth Sailing ⛵️
Some Things Never Change.
The more things change- the more they stay the same.
It’s amazing to see, that after all this time, you can always rely on the same-old same-old to prevail. The more you try to stray from the path, the more the path reveals itself to you.
Perhaps thats what is called destiny. Perhaps, that is called fate. Perhaps, no matter how hard we attempt to stray from what we are or who we are meant to be- the Universe has a way of always bringing us back. Back to where we fall into our lane again. Back into the area of our lives where we are capable of growing and becoming everything we we born to become. The powers at work are beyond understanding, beyond comprehension. Sometimes all we can do, is throw ourselves into the wind and surround to its direction.
Ships in the ocean are meant to sail. Some sail through devastating storms and minor hurricanes. Others, travel through clear skies and blue waters. Regardless, a ship is meant to be out at sea- not stuck in a harbour. Being able to fly out and experience the nature of the beast- the water, all around, crashing from every side- is its true purpose. No ship was ever built to stay back and be nothing more than a monument. No more than a sorry excuse of a vessel, unable to perform its basic duties. Every single one was built for a purpose, for a mission- one which it must acknowledge and tackle, should they wish to be successful.
We as individuals are no different. We have been built with a purpose, built with a mission. Sometimes, it takes us a little longer than others to figure out what that mission is. What our purpose of being here, truly relies up. We spend most of our time, running around, following the flow, trying to fit in. Until eventually- we are thrust awake. We are thrown into the ocean, with all the forces behind it. The waves, exploding into our hull, leaving no piece of us untested. The water acts much like life. It beats up and bends us into submission, no matter how strong we are built. The secret, however, is to never break. Is to never surrender and give in to the forces outside.
Ships only ever sink, when the water which surrounds them gets within. We are much the same. We are capable of great things, great achievements, as long as we do not allow the water from the outside enter within. The voices, the people, all their opinions. The judgement, the jealousy, the anger. All emotions, which are driven towards us from all angles, at all times. Regardless, we are meant to withstand it all. We are meant to reinforce our hull, our vessel, to withstand all
Rocky Balboa said it best. It’s not about how hard you hit- it’s about how hard you can get hit, and get back up. Nobody hits harder than the world. Nobody hits harder than life. The ocean, its waves and tidal, hit harder than any ship. No boat can fight agains the elements, and come out the other side victorious. Show me the greatest ship in the world, and I will show you a vessel that can be sunk by some external force. Warriors are great and remembered, because first they must be willing to die against the forces. Much like the Titanic. Much like any other vehicle, which was designed to fight- and was vanquished.
Sailing against the wind is useless. The fruits it bears are tiny- if any at all. It is crucial to understand, that we do not stand a change against Mother Nature and the elements she possesses. We must therefor use our intelligence, to overcome our obstacles. We must learn how to use Mother Nature, as an ally, rather than an opponent. One cannot sail into a Hurricane, expecting to emerge the other side as the same ship which went in. One cannot expect to sail their own direction, following their own desires, without meeting the tremendous force and resistance which is in their way. It is through these challenges, that we must learn to work with the forces, instead of against. We must embrace the elements, and make them perform our will. We must bend, but never break.
The soul is our ship. It is the captain. Whether we are conscious of it or not, we are being guided. The soul pulls us into all directions, attempting to free itself from the ego-self. The ship has a mind of its own, travelling the seas and driving as she wishes. It is our duty, as captains, to release the grip of the ego which is holding onto the soul, and allow the water to pull us in the direction we are mean to sail in. At first, we may fight it. We may believe that we are the captain and that the ship, neigh the world, will bend to our will. Yet with time, with experience- a great captain soon realizes that it is the water, the waves, which direct him- not his ego.
Life, much like sailing, is about letting go. Trusting the elements to do what they do best- move. The creation of motion, as we are pushed, pulled and steered towards our ultimate destination. Some captains learn this early on in life, and form a relationship with the oceans they sail. Others, naive and afraid, cling on to their ego, believing that they are in charge of everything, everywhere, all at once. A battle between brains and soul. Captain and ocean. Ship and water.
Being able to surrender to the flow is the secret to going the furthest. Using your power and strength, to instead steer and direct your purpose, instead of forcing it, is the secret. The waves respond to our every action. They feel what it is we are doing. Mother nature, neigh, the Universe, knows what we want. Our souls are powerful beyond measure.
Perhaps it is up to us to surrender the wheel, and allow the forces to achieve what is truly meant to be.
Glory Be,
Amen.
