Full Moon π
Back on the grind.
Another day, another week, another month, another year. Time keeps on slippin’. One day it’s here, the next it’s gone. Somebody please, stop this clock.
I wonder what the future holds. I wonder, if all of this is for vain, or if something comes out of it. The physical activity, the reading, the writing, the music. Everything. Everywhere. All at once. Is there a point to all the daily activities? Or is the purpose simply to suffer, and kill time before it kills me?
Suppose I’ll never know. Suppose, I’m simply meant to live it and then look back once I’ve finally reached the end. Once I’ve finally crossed that finish line- then I can rest my head and look back at it all and ponder. Overall, the end does not occupy too much space in my mind. Reality has taught me that the end can come crashing down all at once, upon a single notice. I do not think that life is like a Hollywood movie, where the plot wraps up nice and easy with a bowtie on top. Reality is, life will probably come to a screeching halt. Which I’m okay with, honestly. I’d rather burn out, than fade away.
Overall, things feel like they’re trending in the right direction. One of our greatest shortfalls, as human beings, is that we lack patience. Patience is the key to success- or so I’m told. I want things to start happening, right away. Life doesn’t work that way, unfortunately. We must continue to build, brick by brick, as we slowly walk towards the inevitable darkness.
Life is about leaving something behind, in my humble opinion. We as humans get to experience life here on Earth, in this human form. We are meant to create something, and leave it, for all those who have yet to embark upon this journey. The idea of walking thru a dark tunnel, from one entrance to the next exit, representing our time here on Earth. At the beginning, you probably panic. You run around, trying to figure out all the rules of the game. You explore, expand, and observe all there is to know. Then, somewhere along the way, it hits you. You finally wake up, and realize- there are no rules. There are no regulations. There are no do’s and don’ts. I suppose most religious texts would say differently, but for this argument, I’ll overrule.
Being able to take your observation, your experience, and form a new idea, is the purpose of life. I believe that we are here to help one another get through this journey. This long, winding, twisted journey through the cave. To exit the underground tunnel, and finally step into the light. Within the process, we are meant to find a way to help those who are behind us. For those, who aren’t yet even born. We have a duty to help build and create a world within the cave, that future generations and individuals will look at and admire. That will observe our own creations, to the point where their own inspiration kicks in.
It’s almost like a relay-race. You run your lap, then you pass the baton. You hand off the stick of destiny, to the next generation. The idea of hope, of progress, of vision- in the hands of the children of tomorrow. Inspiration is one of the greatest gifts we as mankind can ever share. The ability to inspire those around us, to reach in and find their own light. To step into the unknown, and create with pure and raw potential. To discover their own secrets and understandings- to tap in to their true power.
Most of us, here on Earth, give away our powers for nothing. We suspend our own capabilities for securities and insurances. We surrender to something which holds us back, not willing to venture out into the unknown all by our selves. We become complacent and afraid of what the deep waters hold in store. Space looks like a fascinating journey- until you lose sight of Earth. We as artists, must be willing to lose sight of Earth, and swim in the unknown. We must be willing to step out and lose sight of the shore, in order to discover new territories. In order to discover something which has never been found, we must be willing to travel where no one has been before.
Michelangelo once said, when asked about how he carved such beautiful statues- that he simply “Saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free”. The art which we wish to create is already around us. The greatest piece of writing, the greatest song ever recorded, the greatest painting ever produced. It is all surrounding us, 24/7, waiting to be free. We simply must have the courage to lean in and do the impossible, in order to help release the angel which is trapped within.
We are that angel. We are creatures of immense beauty and power, trapped within the marble frame. We are surrounded and locked into who we are- who we imagine to be- instead of simply letting go and emerging from the rock. Our ego holds us back, in the cold, hard, familiar surface, lying to us about securities. We must have the courage to carve ourself out of the structures which bind us, and grow our wings in order to fly.
“Man cannot remake himself without suffering- for he is both the marble, and the sculpture” - Alexis Carrel
Glory Be,
Amen.
