Edge of Tomorrow π€️
The world is changing.
Dread it, Run from it- Destiny arrives all the same. And now, it’s here.
Every single day, there is a new opportunity to build upon the last one, to be able to create something new. We have reached an age where acceleration is boomin’. Things are now in motion which cannot be undone. We are travelling at the speed of light, in search of something more. Something which can change the Universe. I don’t know if it’s positive or negative, all I do know is that regardless of what I think, it’s going to happen. You cannot stop progress. You can barely even slow it down. Once humans have a will, they always find a way. The desire to become more powerful, more in control, is a never-ending process.
I’d be a liar if I said that I wasn’t concerned. Things seem to be moving faster and faster, slowly slipping out of hand. The grip we as a species holds over civilization is a risk of failing. We are about to enter a dark age of information, where nobody will be in control. Literally, nobody. Why man would ever seek to create a machine, an individual, that has the capabilities of thinking for itself, is beyond me. Humankind has always been one of the dumbest animals. We think of ourselves as so high and mighty, having built monuments and machines- yet we still act so childish. We believe that we are in control, that we are the ultimate force of the Universe. The hypocritical status we consume is something out of a bad novel. Truly. We are the evil which drives the end.
I suppose I am being fairly pessimistic. Perhaps my mistake is the lack of faith I have in mankind. However, when I look at the trends of society, especially in today’s world- I am not reassured. There is a cancer which is spreading, all across the world. A slow, rotting disease, which has its grip on almost everybody. I low-key believe that the internet is the main culprit of the entire thing. The access of unlimited information, being shoved down our throats 24/7. I do not think the human mind was made to withstand so much information. Constantly being fed lies and manipulation, attempting to rot ourselves to the core. And make no mistake- that is the plan. To rot us to the core. To defeat us of our morales and beliefs, to reduce us to nothing more than cattle. We are the very sheep which the internet seeks to control.
The question then becomes a simple one- who is running the internet? Who is in charge, or directing the flow of information that we receive? Tik Tok is a great example. Did you know, that in China, the algorithm for Tik Tok is completely different than here in North America? Did you know that the app rewards certain videos and behaviours, different than our own? Fascinating, when you think about it. While we here in the West, sit on our throne of lies, thinking that the world is chasing us- here comes China, reinforcing positive behaviour. Now, I’m not necessary speaking out in support of China, and saying that they are the prime example of leadership. Listen, that is a can of worms I do not wish to jump into. However, I can’t help but acknowledge that this one action is something which tremendously benefits their society. It benefits theirs, while it harms our own.
Seriously, have you taken a moment to look around and ponder? Have you spent just a fraction of your time, to observe the generation and what is going on around us? They’re cooked. Fried, to the bone. They can’t even distinguish between up and down. Left and right. We have completely and utterly destroyed our future, with mind-numbing applications which reward degenerate behaviour. Things are BAD. Yet nobody wishes to stand up and say anything. Nobody wishes to rise above the noise, and sound the alarm. Or, if they do, nobody listens. They just ignore it, and put their heads back in the sand. Back into the algorithm, getting their hits of dopamine from some dunce dancing in circles. Translation? We are fucked.
My 8th Grade Science teacher once told me, any man can sit and point out a problem, it takes a great man to stand up and solve it instead. Something like that, don’t quote me. Regardless, he was right. Anybody can sit and moan about what we’re doing, and how it isn’t working out. So, what is the solution? What can we do, as a society, to correct this wrong? Is the ship too far out of the harbour? Have we already sailed too far? Or is there a hope for us to right the wrongs, and to turn around back on course? I have to believe that we can. I must. I am a human, living in a human civilization. I must have faith and believe that we are capable of evolving past the challenges which we face. However, I am not optimistic. I am truly afraid that we may be too late to save.
Someone, or some group, has their finger on the pulse. While they may not completely control it, they are certainly directing the flow. Like a rive, channeling the energy of the ocean from one are to the next. Somebody is directing it. Somebody is weaving information in and out. So, who? I don’t know. I have hunches, ideas, theories- but I do not know for certain. Then again, I definitely do. However, for the sake of the argument, we won’t dive into that right now. All that matters is that we are on a crash course, guaranteed to lead to our demise. It is time to correct our course, or abandon all ships.
Humanity has had a great run. Truly. We have accomplished things which were said to be impossible. Every single step of the way, we have pushes further and harder than ever before. We have conquered, built and transformed the Earth as we know it. I suppose this day and age is no different as well. As we continue forward into the future, new challenges lie ahead. New grounds, new areas which were once deemed impossible. Yet, here we stand. Here we stand, on the cusp of forever. On the edge of tomorrow. On the very cliff of unlimited power. We will achieve it. We will unlock forbidden knowledge, in an attempt to become our own God. And when we do, death will follow us. We were never meant to hold so much power.
"Power is given only to him who dares to stoop and take it ... One must have the courage to dare" - Dostoevsky
May God have mercy on us all,
Amen.
