The Multiverse 🪐

    Dana White once said that:

If you aren’t excited for Monday’s, then you’re in the wrong field.

I agree with him on that. Monday’s should be the day you wake up excited, put on your boots and get back to work with enthusiasm. You should be foaming at the mouth to start the week off at 100% and face any challenges thrown your way with the ability to overcome them. After all, what is Monday if not for just another made up name we have been fed into our subconsciousness? Little deep for a Monday morning, I know.

Do you ever wonder if there truly is a multiverse? Do you ever sit and ponder on the thought of there being unlimited, alternative, versions of yourself, living elsewhere within time? Another wild question. Something about the idea is soothing, making it sound so satisfying. Nothing would make me happier than to know that perhaps there is a version of me, somewhere else in time, currently doing something incredible. Perhaps I’m a Rock Star somewhere else, belting out tunes on my piano. Or perhaps, I’m playing in the NHL, dangle snipe and celly. Who knows- maybe I’m even running for Prime Minister somewhere else, and have just been aware the keys to the country. That last one is unlikely tho, to be honest. I think I’d rather be the head of the Mafia instead. Same same, but different. All of these sounds amazing and exciting, making me come to one conclusion- they’re fake.

Hear me out- We know very little about the Universe, Space-Time or Gravity itself. In fact, I would argue we know nothing at all. However, I am sure some human somewhere around the globe, is working day and night in attempt to unlock the secrets to it all. The secrets and abilities to travel freely, to follow ones will. Hell, maybe we already have unlocked Time-Travel, who knows at this point? It’s not like the individual or organization who has would come all the way down and let me know they’ve achieved it. Still, let’s ignore the hypotheticals for the moment. Let’s stick to what we believe to know. And that is, that none of those have happened. That we are not the masters of the Universe, that we do not hold the keys for now. That we are, in fact, trapped here, on this floating space rock, doing our best to simply exist and make it thru the day. If that is the case, then why would there be another Universe out there, where we have everything which we could ever wish for? What evidence do we have to support the idea that there are multiple versions of ourself, doing something completely different than what we currently are doing? The more you say it out loud, the more you truly dive into it- the more it sounds too good to be true. Which is exactly what it is- too good to be true.

I often play a game, one where I am the ruler of the world. I place myself at the highest peak possible, and absorb as much power and influence within the human civilization as I can handle. I ascend to the throne (or descend, more likely), and claim my rightful place as the ruler of all nations. I like to imagine myself, directing the flow of over 8 billion people, steering this ship we call life. I am the captain of Earth, navigating us thru the cosmos and into deep outer space. Now, if I were the ruler, what would I want to do? What kind of deception would I be able to pull off, in order to benefit myself and my closest allies? Well, for one, I would create a bunch of theories. Hell, I would even go so far as to fund research and pay off scientists, to back up and cooperate with my theories. I would infiltrate the very organizations which taught free-thinking, and influence them to share my views with the rest of the general public. I would fund schools and Universities, paying them and their deans off with tremendous bribes, in order to achieve my desired outcome. I would tell them which lies to share, which concepts to push- I would basically control their entire curriculum and output. I would infiltrate their labs and their workstations, pulling all the strings necessary in order to achieve my desired outcome. Then, once I had full power over all which could emerge- I would feed lies into the system. I would build an entire infrastructure, based on lies and deception. I would taint and corrupt the facts, creating false knowledge and fake information, feeding into phone results. I would dilute and disrupt the very waters of knowledge themselves, creating a society filled with incorrect theories. Why would I do all this? Simple- control.

How could I make the entire population willing to suffer, day in and day out, to achieve more power for myself? How could I create a system, where the slave workers are happy to be slaves? How can I distort reality and bend it so that it responds to my own will? How can I take the truth, which was once know for certain, and change it to fit a false reality? There are literally over one hundred reasons why I would wish to achieve all of the above. I would be able to have the entire human population in the palm of my hand. I would have complete control and influence over every single corner of the Earth. I would silence the masses, and create nations of obedient servants. I would no longer need to work day in and day out, in order to maintain my power. Soon, I would trick even the brightest of minds, to fall into my trap. I would rule the entire Earth, causing nothing my order and production. I would cloud everybody else’s viewpoints, while I sat high and mightily on my throne of lies.

The Multiverse sounds like a genius idea. It sounds like a gorgeous escape from the reality in which we currently find ourselves in. Because it is exactly that- an escape. If your life sucks, and you dread every single Monday- who cares? Somewhere else in the multiverse, you’re living the dream! Hate your job? Doesn’t matter! One version of you, somewhere in Time, is a Rock Star! Everything you ever wished, handed over to you with a stroke of magic. Which is exactly the point. To reduce yourself down to nothing more than a probability, nothing more than a fraction. You are one of an unlimited number of individuals, with no value or importance in the grand scheme of things. Why wake up at 5am on a Monday and grind, when you know somewhere else out there, you’re living like a King? Why do anything, at all, when this life is simply not meant to be a dream? Take another drink, smoke another toke! Watch another movie, eat another chocolate bar! Keep on doing everything in your power to enjoy yourself right here, right now. Because somewhere else, you’re amazing. But here? In this timeline? In this Multiverse? Nothing more than below average. Get up, go to work. Click those buttons. Sell those products. Shovel those ditches. Plug those holes. It never ends. And once you’re finished, once you’ve finally achieved death- then you can rest.

Most times, when things sound too good to be true- that’s because they are. That’s because they have been born out of deception, in order to achieve a desired result. The Multiverse is no different. The desired result to reduce yourself to nothing more than just unlucky, living in a poor man’s dream. The truth is often the thing which we hate to face the most. The truth, that we are solely responsible for what we achieve, here in this lifetime. That we are the masters of our own ships- the keys to our own lives. That we are more than a fraction, more than a minuscule individual. That we are, in fact, walking miracles.

That this life is our responsibility to take.

May God have mercy on us all,

Amen.
